TU/e Green Week 2023 will take place on June 12-16.

The Green Week is an annual event where we inspire and motivate the TU/e community to become and focus more on sustainability. We’re currently looking for students that want to organize the edition in 2023! If you’re interested in joining the Green Week Committee check out gogreenoffice.nl/committees or email committees@gogreenoffice.nl.

Theme

This year the Green Week emphasized three themes within sustainability. Below those are briefly explained.

  • A sustainable future

A sustainable future is the ultimate goal and it is represented in every event because all events give insights and practical skills to create a sustainable future. Students can contribute to this sustainable future during the week to the extent they would like to.

  • A sustainable community

To create a strong network that represents sustainability, communities are needed. During the TU/e Green Week collaborations with multiple associations and institutes within and outside the university are made in order to create awareness among a wide public. The events will enhance this community even further.

  • Sustainability through all aspects of life

The events during the Green Week address a lot of different themes within sustainability. From waste reduction to sustainable food and from supporting clothing durability to showing sustainable initiatives in an exhibit.

One small step you can take against this issue is to choose to buy second-hand items, and this is why the Clothing Swap is the best chance to get nice items from fellow students and contribute to circularity. Handing in the clothes is possible on tuesday, and untill 13.30 on the other days.  You will get a coupon that you can use to pick a new item from all the collected clothes. This can be done at anytime. It is also possible to pick items without handing in anything. Than you need to do a small payment that will go to the voedselbank.

Clothing Repair Workshop

Join this workshop to fix your clothes! We will approach repairing garments (or other textile articles such as bags or hats) in a super easy way, so absolutely no prior experience with sewing is required. The most important thing is that you learn how you can easily fix your clothes by yourself, instead of having to purchase a new item – and support an industry that is not the best in terms of sustainability and human rights. During this two hour workshop you’ll learn the skills you need to fix your clothes, and you’ll leave with a mending kit so you can continue this sustainable practice in the future!
